  Bourne is a medium-sized Cape Cod town. Spanning from Cape Cod Bay on the northeast, to the shores of Buzzards Bay * on the southwest, Bourne is cut in two by the Cape Cod Canal, forming the beginning of Cape Cod. Perhaps better known than the town itself are its two bridges - the Bourne Bridge and Sagamore Bridge - spanning the canal to connect the two halves.

Bourne consists of 9 villages:
Bournedale, Buzzards Bay (the village *), and Sagamore Beach
are on the north side of the canal;
Bourne (village),
Cataumet, Gray Gables, Monument Beach, Pocasset and Sagamore are on the south side.

Within these villages are some better-known places such as Wing's Neck, Bassets Island, Barlows Landing, Patuisset, and Tahanto Beach which are in Pocasset; Scraggy Neck, Redbrook Harbor, and Amrita Island are in the Cataumet area;
Taylors Point, Buttermilk Bay, Little Buttermilk Bay, Hide-a-way Village, Crows Nest, and Lewis Point are in the village of Buzzards Bay; Herring Run is in Bournedale; Sagamore Highlands is in Sagamore Beach; Mashnee Island (a peninsula, actually) juts off of Gray Gables toward the entrance to the Cape Cod Canal.
Bourne is bordered on the south by
Falmouth, on the west by
Wareham, on the north by
Plymouth, and on the east by
Sandwich.
